Diablo Clone Information

The soj messages you see are always the result of someone, somewhere, selling an soj. It probably wasnt you, but it could have been ... there is no mistake, someone most likely sold it on the off chance that it would spawn diablo clone so that he could kill and get himself an annihilus charm.
(a personal theory of mine ... it is quite possible that the soj counter for each server on the realm increments at a totally RANDOM interval, in order to get people to sell more sojs, or also possible that for every thousand games created on .xxx server, the soj counter increments by 1, also in order to get people to sell more sojs...)

Now, for some background info:

There are servers on every realm that host games of diablo2 lod version 1.10 ... in softcore, hardcore, ladder and non-ladder... each server hosts all 4 game types at the same time AND THIS INCLUDES CLASSIC GAMES. You can indeed kill the diablo clone in classic games, but he drops nothing ... gives plenty nice exp though, as the highest level monster is diablo at level 90, and diablo clone is level 110.

There are 104 game servers on each realm (at least this is so on USEast).

Any time an soj is sold in any game on a server, every single game on that server gets a message that "**** sojs have been sold to vendors".

Diablo Clone will only show up in Hell games ... you suddenly get a message saying that "Diablo Walks The Earth" and the screen darkens and shakes.

Diablo Clone does not appear in normal or nightmare games (there was a slight bug in the servers during the first week or two of .10, and he did appear in normal/nightmare, but never dropped annihilus charms unless it was a hell game)

If you enter a Hell game that had the Diablo Clone appear and he was already killed, you will always see the message that "Diablo Walks the Earth..." every time you enter that game. Diablo Clone cannot appear twice in the same game.

In order to make him actually appear after seeing the message that says he walks the earth, you need to activate a superunique monster (this monster can NOT have been activated before you see diablo walk the earth message ... you cannot see any of it's minions or the boss itself, or even get within a screen and a half of the boss's spawn location, or that superunique cannot spawn as the diablo clone). Popular locations include Eldritch the Rectifier (act 5, frigid waypoint, head 1 screen north-west and he's right there), Shenk, Bishibosh (cold plains, sometimes in stony field), Rakinishu, Darkfire (den of evil).

Act 5 superuniques are quite easy to get to, however, sometimes when the monster spawn in the area are difficult to handle, it makes the fight very hard. Act 1 superuniques arent too hard to locate, and the monsters surrounding those areas are typically very easy to dispatch, making act 1 a very nice choice for fighting the clone.

There were several bugs that allowed you to easily kill the diablo clone, one of which involved Shenk (kill shenk, everything near him dies ....) most of these have been patched server-side... (they no longer work as of about 5 months ago, I believe).

If you make a non-ladder normal game on server .37, and sell sojs (about 90 to 120 sojs is the average) you will most likely walk the diablo clone, but you need to have friends in a hell (ladder or non-ladder) game ON THAT SAME SERVER to tell you when you stop selling sojs. Having friends in server .137 does not work, and neither does .36 ... (Close is like horseshoes and hand grenades .. you throw both, but only one goes boom). The actual number of sojs required has finally been pinned down between 70 (minimum) and 150 (maximum). There were several glitches in the past that ended up with only 10 sojs being sold to walk a clone, and 180 sojs being required on another attempt to walk the clone.

If you sell the sojs in a HELL difficulty game, you will instantly see the message that he walks the earth when you have sold the correct amount. Stones of Jordan (and Annihilus and Gheed's Fortune) all have a special flag set on them ... similar to ethereal items. Once they are sold to any vendor, they are gone forever, and you can NEVER BUY THEM BACK.

If you are camping a game where someone is apparently selling sojs on that server, please note that it can take anywhere between 10 minutes and 20 hours, depending on how many sojs the seller has available, how fast he is selling them, and if he runs out (has to jump out of game to get more sojs to sell, and then find the server again, or have someone hold his game open for him)

If you are standing around in town for about 15 to 20 minutes, you will probably be disconnected (idle timeout). To prevent this, there are several anti-idle methods available, some of which are valid for hardcore as well as softcore. I will outline two of the most common methods.

Outer Cloister idle trick
Go to the outer cloister waypoint, and clear the entire room (the large center square room where the waypoint itself is located). Go to the main entry door (from tamoe highland). Stand against the wall inside the room as far to the east as you can get while still able to see the door. Click on the door ONE time, and you should be stuck running against the wall near the door. It does help to have the door SHUT and not blocked. This is not inside a town, thus, it is not recommended for hardcore mode at all. However, it DOES take place in act 1, so it is very very useful for burning in mules, as long as you can get a friend to give you OC waypoint and clear the area for you real quick.

A5 Stash idle trick
Go to the act 5 town (harrogath) and go up the stairs toward malah. Stop on the platform that separates the staircases (platform area is just over the stash on screen). Stand directly over the stash, take 1 step left, and then click on the stash ONE time. If you run down the stairs to your stash, go back up and move a little in the OPPOSITE direction you ran down in, and try again. Since this takes place in act 5 town, it is excellent for both hardcore and softcore. It's not really recommended for burning in a mule, as by the time you get here you already spent over 2 hours playing.

The characters with the easiest time of it vs the clone are smiters (with maxed crushing blow), kicksins (again, maxed crushing blow), javazons (charged strike), and hammerdins. In all cases except the hammerdin, prevent monster heal is a very good mod to have, and in the case of all characters, specialized gear is definately good to have.

Prevent Monster Heal is a very useful thing to have vs the clone, as he regenerates well over 100 hp per second. But, if you leave the monster's line of sight (ie, go to town, dodge into a house), his regeneration may kick back in fairly quickly.

It is quite possible to kill the clone WITHOUT PMH, but it is very difficult for most people .... 14k blizzard takes about 4 minutes to kill him without PMH.
(that's WITH a wand of lower resist and maxed cold mastery, and plz note that there's not much room on this type of setup for max resist ... have someone help tank! WITH PMH!!)

A maxed CS javazon, on the other hand .... with excellent gear and setup for tanking the clone, can take him down in 30 seconds or less...
(Ceylina has 75% res all, 85% vs lit, 3.6k CS, wand of lower resist, t-stroke, 24% griffon's eye, and nature's peace... I kill clone with her all the time, and she averages about 22 - 28 seconds)

Which fairly beats an 11k hammerdin at an average of 30-45 seconds....
(possible to actually get maxed or at least decent resists with 8k hammers)

uhh... what else .... oh yes, D-Clone's resists!
Phys Resist (50%)
Lightning Resist (95%) <--- Nyah!! Ceylina strips 75% lit res off him ... drops him to 20%
Cold Resist (95%)
Fire Resist (95%)
Poison Resist (95%)
Magic Resist (50%) <--- THAT is ignored by Magic Hammer, since diablo is a DEMON class monster

Clone regenerates WELL OVER 100 hp per second ... so Open Wounds, Crushing Blow, Prevent Monster Heal, and Slow Target all help quite a bit. If you dont have any of these available, pack in some poison damage ... a poisoned monster doesnt regen. (slow doesnt stop him from healing ... just slows him down from killing you in 5 seconds or less )

Oh yes ... his spell effects ... well, he's got all the same spells that the regular hell difficulty diablo has, (albiet with TEN TIMES THE HP and 5 times the power behind the spells). His one addition for taking a little stroll is the Armageddon skill (druid armageddon, somewhere around level 45 skill, with some synergies, I believe). Half of this damage is fire, the other half is physical, so phys damage reduction is reccomended.

Per hit damages:

Level 9 DiabLight
(21+192/256)-(23+192/256) Physical
(38+64/256)-(48+128/256) Lightning
NextDelay 3

Level 9 DiabCold
87-97 Magic
20 second duration

Level 11 DiabFire
100-130 Fire
NextDelay 4

Level 9 DiabWall
(160/256)-(224/256) Physical
(1+160/256)-(2+8/256) Fire

Level 12 DiabRun
116-132 Physical

Level 15 PrimeFirewall
(148/256)-(152/256) Fire

Level 12 Diablogeddon
Meteor
56-72 Physical
210-275 Fire
Fire Patch
(1+64/256)-(1+80/256) Fire

If you stand pretty much RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM (with your char overlapping his char and up as CLOSE to diablo as possible) It is possible that most of his attacks miss you! In that spot, his armageddon rarely hits you ... his lightning hose attack goes straight OVER you without hitting you, and you end up just worrying about his phys and cold attack, as well as his chaos firestorm (pack some dwarf stars or a Rising Sun ammy... or both!)

Well, if you have any further questions on the clone, just ask away!

Btw, I've solo killed or helped to kill about 100 diablo clones, and 40 of the annis passed through my hands ... I own 10, and I gave the rest away. (mostly to my friends in the basin! )

Always keep your annihilus charm (if you have one), away from ANYTHING that you wish to sell off ... also, keep your keys away from it as well. A friend of mine on USEast recently had the very poor misfortune of running out of keys (kept them next to anni), and picked up a magic ring that ended up in the spot where his keys were... After ID from cain, it turned out to be a crap ring, so he sold it off (or thought he sold it off ... ) While looking through the vendor's inventory for it, it finally dawned on him that he could never get it back ... Even worse, this character did not belong to him ... it belonged to his father.
